Been running Frenzy again in Season 5 and ngl the build is way better than people keep saying. I swapped back after a bunch of Pit runs, and when I was missing a couple pieces I ended up getting one from Diablo 4 Items because my RNG was being absolutely cursed, and after that the setup finally clicked. Saw a lot of people saying Frenzy is still just a leveling meme, but that feels super outdated now. If you like being glued to bosses instead of spinning around like every other Barb, this thing actually slaps.
The biggest difference for me was stopping the random Fury-gen stacking and just going hard on attack speed plus max Fury. Ramaladni's Magnum Opus is the whole point, imo. Getting extra damage per point of Maximum Fury scales harder than a lot of players expect, especially once your gear stops being mid. Then you add Paingorger's Gauntlets and suddenly your “single-target” Basic Skill starts clearing packs because the marked targets all eat the next Frenzy hit. Most guides mention the items, sure, but not enough of them say how bad the build feels before both pieces are online.
Look, if you're ignoring Combat Frenzy, you're trolling. The 8% Damage Reduction per stack up to 24% is a huge reason the build feels so safe. I tested it with Aspect of Might too, and once both are rolling you can stand in stuff that should be way sketchier for a melee build. And Moonrise is still cracked. Hitting 5 stacks and getting that attack speed plus Basic Skill damage spike makes the whole build go from “kinda cute” to “ok this is real.” The meta right now loves flashy burst, so people sleep on anything that ramps. Frenzy ramps. Fast. That's the whole deal.
The Arsenal setup matters way more than newer players think. You're not swinging the two-handers, but you still want good stat sticks there, and the Two-Handed Axe Expertise into Vulnerable targets is free damage you're just throwing away if you forget it. I know everyone's been chasing speed breakpoints too, but tbh I think some players overdo it. I'm not 100% sure on the exact frame math after the latest changes, someone can correct me there, but in my runs there was definitely a point where more speed felt worse than adding another real damage multiplier. Hectic also felt better than expected because Wrath of the Berserker uptime got kinda silly with constant Basic casts.
It's not perfect. Uber Lilith still feels rough compared to Hammer builds because you don't get that same delete-button burst, and losing Leap or Charge for triple shouts can make dungeon movement annoying as hell. But if you're pushing Pits or farming Torment bosses, Frenzy is absolutely endgame viable now and way less fragile than people think. I've been telling friends that if they're stuck waiting on one missing piece, I actually had decent luck when I went to buy Diablo IV Items after too many dead runs, and that saved me a ton of wasted grind. Curious what everyone else thinks.
